Whether he is a parody, publicized, propped up, or praised, Phil is an entertainer, paid to endorse products and people just like any other personality. Before the advent of online influencers, Phillip Calvin McGraw was paid for his ability to influence court outcomes. Even protecting Oprah from white beef barons, baselessly blaming her for their bottom line. Since then, his credibility has decreased dramatically for professing things like, Donald Trump has a thick skin…because if there’s someone who takes criticism without getting upset, it’s Donald. Simply look at how Donald handled losing the election.
Phil’s “interview” was an attempt to re-cast Donald as a revenge free, religious family man, who sacrifices for his country. Surprised there wasn’t a cross on set for Donald to nail himself to. After all, Donald is all about sacrificing to help others. Phil has gone from “telling it like it is,” to telling Donald whatever Donald wants to hear. Phil seems on board with MAGA’s latest big lie…the lie that President Biden is responsible for Donald’s criminal actions – not Donald. Maybe Phil should interview David Dennison and Peggy Peterson next. Phil has gone from bullishly pushing people to see the error of their ways, asking folks, “How’s that working for you?” To coddling a bully, asking Donald, How’s that feeling for you, is my hand soft enough, do I need more lotion? But hey, Phil’s show is part of a religious network where talking snakes is common place.
Bought and paid for by the straight, white, Caucasian, Christian Reich Right. Religious broadcasters are forcing their beliefs into living rooms and legislation. A Christian broadcast network called, Trinity Broadcasting Network, added Phil to its arsenal of arrows, using its new sharp tine of television, to impale freedom while at the same time using freedom as a shield…an ouroboros of holy high hypocrisy.
Unfortunately, there are religious extremists in America and they are hostile to an evolving culture, especially one that allows women to choose what we do with our bodies. Merit Street Media and Trinity Broadcasting Network, tied the knot creating new shows where one can watch the legislation of religion at work for their Christian worldview.
Religion has devotees and deep pockets…deep enough to buoy a bigoted busted bully in exchange for more Republican Supreme Court Justices, anointed with the power to control how generations of Americans live. Fun fact, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) started in 1973, the same year as the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling. A constitutional right Donald is responsible for taking away.
Ah yes, religion boasts phenomenal stories with incredible writing, and epic events…enlightenment, talking snakes, virgin births, walking on water, L. Ron Hubbard’s E-meters, reincarnation, and images that appear on toast. Religion is a bizarre and beautiful organizational tool, dictating daily routines and dietary restrictions. For Donald religion is the great grift that just keeps giving.
Religion engages emotion over the empirical. Marketing and manipulating with tentacles of tine to control and sell a variety of people and products…from media personalities to mythical stories.
In America you can worship what and who you want but remember, religious law does not control our Republic. Laws of your god don’t supersede the law of the land. Separation of church and state is not a myth, it is mandatory.
