It has been almost a month since 3 historical Black churches, the St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre on March 26, the Greater Union Baptist Church in Opelousas on April 2, and the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas on April 4, serving communities for over a century, were burned to the ground in Louisiana. The fires were confirmed as hate crimes by the F.B.I. No steadfast response from the current President has been offered. Silence from the current President is no surprise, as his obvious disregard for Black communities is evident in his actions and behavior, documented well before his run for office. His silence is the reverberant exclamation point on his refusal and inability to be a President for all Americans.
