Winds of Change for the Windy City

The winds of change continue to breeze throughout the Windy City, as Chicago voters are set to elect a Black woman as Mayor. Chicago is the third largest city in the nation, on the ballot are, Toni Preckwinkle and Lori Lightfoot both women look to win the seat, currently held by Rahm Emanuel, who is not seeking a third term in office.

The winner of the Chicago run-off election will join seven Black women mayors in America, Keisha Lance Bottoms in Atlanta, GA, LaToya Cantrell in New Orleans, LA, Catherine Pugh on Baltimore, MD, London Breed in San Francisco, CA, Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C., Sharon Weston Broome in Baton Rouge, LA and Vi Alexander Lyles in Charlotte, N.C.

Congratulations Chicago, for this historic mayoral race, and of course for the Chicago Bears new jersey’s with triple digits, to honor the teams 100 year anniversary (insert laughter). No, the Bears aren’t changing its jerseys to three digits, however the city is changing history for the better.
