Well, Donald’s rally at Madison Square Garden held few surprises, although Donald and his House Speaker sure are acting sophomoric with their “secret” to be revealed after the election. My guess is they’ve got new coup plans. Statistically, criminals are repeat offenders.
Folks are offended and surprised by the racism and hate filled speeches that cloaked the arena like the cape on a Klansman…white and flowing. Are they just now tuning in? Newsflash: Donald was racist prior to his entry into politics. Actually, I’m surprised it wasn’t more racist. I was expecting props, like a lawn jockey on stage and someone in blackface.
For fuck’s sake, Byron Donalds (a Black Republican from Florida) was introduced to the song, “Dixie Land” an old minstrel favorite, written by Daniel Emmett, about the civil war. It was the anthem for the Confederacy. “Dixie Land,” now that was an unexpected walk-up song…even for a Black Republican.
The thing about free speech is, that it’s free. Sometimes it’s fact free. Sometimes it’s thought free. And sometimes it’s hateful. However, free speech is not free of consequence and not free of accountability. When you say racist statements, you will be called a racist. And when you spread hate, you will incite hatred.
So, as folks flip out over Donald’s racism and fascism (and rightfully so) remember to hold him accountable…vote.
This election should not be as close as the pollsters are reporting. My women’s intuition is telling me that it’s not that close (people are holding who they vote for close to the vest). No reasonable, free thinking, human being, who would like the continuation of being free…and to think, will vote for Donald. Even scaredy-cat Jeff Bezos, with all his billions won’t actually vote for Donald. He will pull the punk move and placate the privileged bigot by pulling an endorsement in the newspaper he owns. Hell, I bet Ivanka won’t even vote for Donald…what’s the use in being a socialite when there’s nothing social and no light? Can’t imagine that front row at a fascist fashion show is much fun.
Let’s stay focused – don’t get distracted by the rantings of the racist and those who enable them…regardless of the uniform they wear or the words they swear by. Whether it’s Dr. Phil in a suit of psychology or Melania in high heels of hypocrisy, we must stay focused. Keep calling them out.
Least we forget, ballot boxes are being set on fire and election workers are being attacked. We’ve got serious stuff to focus on…like freedom.
When Donald loses again, there’s no telling what he will do, another coup won’t be the same because this time, they know the game.
