A little league team from Maracaibo, Venezuela won the Latin American championship. The next step for the little league team was to play in the United States of America, in the Senior League Baseball World Series. The kids ranging in age from, 13 years-old to 16 years-old, were ecstatic and ready to play in the championship game…until Donald bombed the dreams of the young athletes.
Trump denied the kids visa’s, taking away their chance to play for a championship that they earned. Donald Trump, who still cheats at golf, at the age of 79 years-old, who never played little league, who has no sense of sportsmanship, is keeping kids from competing in the sport they love.
Donald declared the kids on the Venezuelan little league team to be a national threat. Which is a helluva thing for Donald to do considering that he’s turning America’s economy into Venezuela, by expelling subject matter experts who don’t give him the numbers he wants.
Thanks to Trump, the residents of South Carolina, home of the Senior League Baseball World Series, can rest easy, knowing that a Venezuelan little league team, won’t be in their state. Phew. All that South Carolina needs to worry about, is radioactive wasps.
Donald doesn’t respect sports, whether the league is little or major. Donald doesn’t know what it means to compete and win with gratitude and lose with grace…that team sports are about a team.
Least we forget that Trump is a keeping the Tiffany designed, FIFA Club World Cup, gold trophy won by Chelsea, for himself. Donald didn’t win the championship trophy, he took the trophy along with a medal intended for players.
During the FIFA Club World Cup championship presentation, Donald wouldn’t leave the stage. Like Norma Desmond, oblivious to the reality that surrounded her, as she readied for her closeup with Mr. DeMille, Donald pretended the applause was for him, absorbing waves of cheers intended for Chelsea, as imagined cheers for himself.
Back to youth baseball…
ICE Agents, masked and armed with guns, targeted and intimidated a local youth baseball practice in New York. Trump’s ICE Agents interrupted their scheduled practice in a park, to interrogate the kids, questioning where the kids were born. Thank goodness, their coach had the courage to speak up for them in the moment.
Kids playing baseball, America’s pastime, are being assaulted by an authoritarian regime right here in America.
Donald Trump is not only killing the American dream, he’s killing the dreams of little league teams.

*A joyful update to this post. Indeed, the Trump Administration is full of asses and asterisks. The kids from Venezuela were finally allowed to play after many pleas. Who knew Marco Rubio would save the day.
