Celebrating Freedom, Joy, and Forward Movement.
We celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in Texas, when in 1865, white people finally decided to let Black people in on the life changing fact that slavery was over. Let’s dismantle white supremacy, now. The polite, passive, patience of waiting for white people to grant equality is over. Most white people are now getting on the right side of history, and those who are not, well, to paraphrase Jay Rock, applying his melodic lyrics, toward implementing action, and voting, “Get out the way, get out the way, get out the way. Get the fuck up out our way. You’re either with us or against us. Win. Win. Win, Win. Win. Fuck everything else. Win. Win. Win. Win.” Let’s keep this forward movement going. “Keep on pushing,” as Curtis Mayfield, and The Impressions sang, “I know we can make it, with just a little bit of soul.” Honor our ancestors – never forget.
