“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” Elie Wiesel

It was a brutal week for humanity. Actions of terror have been seared into our souls. The Israel-Hamas war is devastating and appears to be getting unimaginably worse. Innocent lives are still being terrorized.

The news is hard to take in, yet, we must not fall prey to being indifferent, to becoming numb to what seems to be daily horrors against humanity.

We must give a damn. Not about well intentioned words, perhaps poorly delivered by celebrity voices on social media. But rather about stopping terrorism. Let’s “cancel” terrorism instead of each other. Focus. We are all connected on this planet, terrorism is designed to break our connection.

We don’t need to be experts on geopolitical strategy to know that terrorism leaves generational trauma…deep scars which don’t easily heal.

History is a valuable teacher if we remember its lessons – we cannot forget and become indifferent. What we don’t give a damn about today, will bite us in the ass tomorrow.

We cannot be indifferent to terrorism, whether it stands behind a podium, hides in caves, or marches with torches. We cannot normalize terrorism, regardless of the form it takes.
