After America cheered in hopeful observation during the solar eclipse, which enveloped a portion of states in temporary darkness yesterday, Arizona banned abortion today, plunging women’s rights back to the dark ages.
In the great state of Arizona, Republicans have taken the US back to 1864, upholding a 160 year old law that bans abortion and subjects doctors to a 5 year prison sentence for providing health care to a woman. 1864 is the GOP sweet spot – during the civil war when part of the country was fighting to keep slavery legal and when women could not vote…ah yes, back to the good ole days of 1864.
Trump appointed Republican justices on the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade which has resulted in the overturning of abortion access across the nation. It is clear that (R) does not only stand for Republican, (R) stands for regressive.
Republicans are trying like hell to distance themselves from abortion laws that Republicans prayed and paid for – don’t be fooled – abortion bans are what Republicans want. They can try to run from laws banning and limiting women’s health care but, Republicans cannot hide from November. The ballot box is binding.
Vote Democratic down ballot. Republicans have proven through their actions that they will not stop at taking away abortion. IVF, marriage equality, and voting rights are on the Heritage Foundation hit list.
Be aware. Be present. Be American. Vote.
