(R) Republican Revenge
Donald Trump’s life is padded and paved with privilege.
He lives a life in which consequence is just a word with no leverage.
He has mocked and molested the law for the almighty “Me”
For it is Donald Trump he cares about, not you, and certainly not democracy.
And on the rare occasion when Donald is actually held to account
Found guilty on all 34 counts.
He and his clan of conspirators leap to level revenge.
No remorse for laws broken.
No self-reflection, no looking within.
Revenge upon anyone with (D) after their name.
Revenge upon anyone who doesn’t support him, repeat his lies, or believe like him – just the same.
Donald still breathes that rarified air.
Not like George Floyd, who begged to breathe, as a boot blocked his air.
Some of us live with actual injustice every day.
From the antebellum forced upon our ancestors, who had no say.
Yet, revenge is not what we seek.
It’s equality that we long to share, it’s what we look for, it’s what we speak.
Our souls are not bitter, we actually care.
We care about the democracy we fought to build in spite of the struggle.
The same democracy Donald wants to burn to the ground.
All because he broke the law, got caught, and he’s now in legal trouble.
