Louisiana Republicans love the Ten Commandments and are forcing everyone else in LA to love them too

The great state of Louisiana has decided to give the middle finger to a foundational democratic principle in America, the separation of church and state.

Louisiana law will now require “poster-size displays” of the Ten Commandments in all kindergarten through university public schools that receive state funding. Although Republican law maker and author of the bill, Dodie Horton, referred to “hope being in the air,” at the signing of the bill, the smell of sulfur was prominent lingering in the air for the duration of Republican praise of House Bill 71.

Why stop at the Ten Commandments, Louisiana Republicans? Here are a few more ways Republicans can manipulate laws to erode the separation of church and state:

• Make a law requiring teachers and professors speak in tongues when addressing students.

• Make wives the actual property of their husbands.

• Make all cases of FOMO illegal with a mandatory jail sentence.

• Make adultery illegal punishable by public stoning.

• Require that all new public buildings be constructed in 7 days.

• Require all candidates running for office in the state handle a snake during debates.

• Impose a mandatory jail sentence for any public school student who disrespects their parents.

• Make it illegal to watch American Idol in Louisiana.

• Require all students to work summer jobs in construction just like Jesus Christ.

• Mandate that no one in the state may have more than 12 followers on Instagram.

Love Mel Brooks.

“If you want to respect the rule of law, you gotta start from the original law given which was Moses.” Republican Governor Jeff Landry
