“The true worth of a race must be measured by the character of its womanhood.” Mary McLeod Bethune
With gratitude, and immeasurable appreciation, we honor Mary McLeod Bethune. She literally opened the doors to education for Black girls and women. Known as, “The First Lady of the Struggle,” Mary McLeod Bethune dedicated her time on Earth in service, striving for equality, and freedom, not only for Black women, but all people. She was faithful in working throughout her life, to achieve economic, and political empowerment, through activism and education.
“Whatever glory belongs to the race for a development unprecedented in history for the given length of time, a full share belongs to the womanhood of the race.” Mary McLeod Bethune
