Stop defending Donald Trump’s clear and obvious racist statements. Stop defending Donald’s aim toward racial purity in our history and homeland.
Since Donald put out this statement:
Sycophants from varying races and religions are desperately attempting to “contextualize” Donald’s statement on slavery in America.
Slavery in America was beyond horrific. Full stop. Slavery in America created the caste system we all live in and built a foundation of wealth and white privilege. This is emotionally tough for some people to accept however, it’s far more painful to ignore.
Simply imagine if Donald had instead stated: The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our country is, how bad the Holocaust was. Guess it’s far safer and much easier to condemn atrocities of another country, while ignoring and erasing atrocities in your own country. Black people fought for light while living lives in darkness. You cannot talk about the Underground Railroad without talking about why it existed in the first place. You cannot honor Frederick Douglass and erase the reason that implored him to be honored. You cannot celebrate Rosa Parks while ignoring what caused her to be celebrated.
We respect, embrace, and honor the words, “Never forget.” Because no one should ever forget. Ever. Yet, Black Americans are consistently told to forget our ancestors, to forget our history. To spin slavery into something soft and to be silent about its horrors. To not teach history much less, display its artifacts.
