Climate change is not a matter of belief, no need for faith, trust, or conviction – not believing in climate change will not cause its existence to cease, nor magically transform it into fantasy.
Climate change is real, human beings are experiencing climate change, witnessing it ravage the planet right before our eyes, just look through the smog and fumes, past the animals going extinct, and beyond the destroyed ecosystems – and there it is. Science cannot be swept away by a broom, or a bully. Science is here to stay. Waves of intensified fire, ash, and smoke, have crashed through California, Oregon, and Washington due to climate change, and gender reveal parties.
There is no backup planet, or spaceship waiting to accommodate people while the planet heals. WALL-E was wonderful, yet it is an animated movie nonetheless, and remember, the “fi” in, sci-fi, stands for fiction, no matter how immersive the story pretends to be. Humans need the planet, not the other way around.
“From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf stream waters,” the land, the water, and the air, will no longer be for you and me, as Woody Guthrie would have wanted it to be.
“I don’t think science knows actually,” said Donald Trump.
“Science knows,” stated Joe Biden.
Indeed, science knows.
