Black people in America have always lived under an authoritarian regime.
We were not allowed to read, then told what we could read.
We were not allowed to own property, then told where we could reside.
We were not allowed to vote – fought for the right to vote, only to continue to fight for voting rights.
We fought too hard, for too long, to let a racist birther, take away our democracy.
We fought authoritarian rule in America before, now we have to fight authoritarian rule, again.
We fought too damn hard, for too damn long, to let our rights be eliminated – our future blown up, by an old white bigot, in orange makeup.
